Not A Second to Waste (Jacob Black)

I yawned,as I blasted my Ipod.I'd just finished helping my Aunt Renee clean the front patio-The last wind storm had blown sand into the tiny beach house.I pulled an earbud out. "Aunt Renee,I'm finished!"I called,setting the broom in the corner.

She peered her head out the door."Come in,sweet heart.I just made lemonade,"She said,with her sweet voice that always seemed to have a bit of excitement.

I went in,as she was in the kitchen,serving three glasses of lemonade.

"You're uncle Phil is almost home,"

"Great,"I said,smiling.

My uncle Phil was my babysitter-my Parents were Vacationing in Manzanillo.There was a slightly burned smell-the smell of burned Taquitos."Aunt Renee...Did you try to cook again?"

"Darn,I thought I'd used enough air freshener!"She said,coming to sit by me on the couch,handing me the glass of lemonade.

I took a sip,a little afraid.It actually tasted good-The lemony sweet taste lingering on my tongue."This is really good,did you make this?"

"In one sense,yes,"She said,smiling.

"In which sense?"I said,taking another sip.

"In the sense that I put the powder in the water and stirred it,"

I laughed."So I'm guessing we're going out to dinner again,aren't we?"

"Sure are,"She said,slurping through her straw.

Oh,right.I didn't Introduce myself.My name is Yaneli(Yes,I'm using my name again.Deal with it!Lol,jk,I'm sorry :),Yaneli Licea Valencia.I'm from New York,I lived there with My brother,Christian,Who is at Cal-Berkley right now,and my Parents.What's a Latina to do in New York? A lot of shopping,that's what.My parents were on there Second Honeymoon in Manzanillo,where they first met,so they Decided to Dump me at My uncle phil's house,who is,only half latino,but we get along really well,because we both have the same interests-baseball.I made the varsity baseball team in my freshman year,and have been playing up to my sophomore year,but that's only because I started my summer break yesterday. I was kind of hoping to see my awkward and clumsy cousin,Bella- who was,really funny to watch,but She moved to Washington,with her Dad,Charlie,and then got Married,yuck. I'd gone to the wedding,yet left early,because I had a friend's party to attend to. So far-on this Day and a half,Summer had not been as fun as I had expected-Because my Brother was planning to study right through the summer,so I had no other place to go.I wanted,of course,to stay with my friends in New York-Leilani,Brittany,and Heaven-but according to my parents,I need to bond more with the family. Another option I had-and much wanted,was baseball camp, but my father didn't agree,because there would probably be more boys than girls there.

Always so protective. So this is what I was stuck doing-helping my Aunt Renee clean,and playing baseball over at the fields with my Uncle Phil.

Yep,this would be a summer to remember.

Just two and a half more months of this.No big deal.

I set my glass of lemonade onto the coffee table,and went to the back patio.I'd cleaned it this morning,and then cleaned the front patio. Not that they were making me clean,but there wasn't much to do,so I settled for that. I sat down on the lounge chair,crossing my legs.I stared out onto the horizon,where the water and sun met...

It was so much more different then the coast of New York.I'd spent the entire summer there,with Leilani,since we'd never once seen it-and were totally bummed.It hadn't been much of a beach,after all.

A beach was supposed to be a place-with sand,and water,and heavy waves-with plenty,and I mean plenty of hott guys.

Well,there had been water.and a little bit of sand.hardly and waves.And no,I mean absolutely no hott guys!

"Hey,kiddo!"My uncle Phil said,patting my head.

"Hey,"I said,turning up to smile at him.

"Ready to go to the field?"

I nodded."Sure,"I stood up,and we walked to his car,where my Aunt Renee was already waiting.

We played baseball at the field for a while,and then headed to a local diner.

I didn't eat much-I was too busy missing my friends.

When we got home,I went to my room,to make some calls.

I called Leilani first.It rang three times,and then she picked up.

Hello?

"Leilani!"I said,excited.

Hey,Ellie!Oh my goodness,I miss you so much already!

"I know,me too!"

Dude,it's so boring without you!

"Thanks,I guess.Maybe you could come kidnap me?"

That sounds like a good plan,

I laughed.

So how's your aunt and uncle?

"There...okay,"

You don't sound okay,

"I just cleaned two patios...for fun.You're right,not good."

Well,try and convince your parents-

"Lei,they wouldn't let me go to baseball camp...And they wouldn't let me stay with you!But I could've...if my brother weren't such a nerd..."

Hey,your brother is hott.Don't judge!

"And...I just swallowed back puke.Thanks,Lei."

Well,I was being honest!

"Lei,please don't be honest,"I said,as there was a beep on the line."That me or you?"

Think that's you,

I checked my phone.Incoming call.

"Leilani,I gotta go,incoming call,call you back after,promise,"

Alright,I'll wait.

I answered the call.

"Hello?"

Hey,Ellie!It's Bella,

"Hey Klutzy!How are you?"I said,excited.'Klutzy' was my nickname for Bella-because she was a real klutz.

I'm good,and you?

"I'm staying at My uncle phil's and your mom's house.I'm just peachy,Klutzy."

Very funny...well...I called to save you.

I rose to my feet,excited."No way,bells!You got my parents to let me go stay at Leilani's house!"

Ummm...no.But thanks for ruining the excitement,now I won't be able to top that,

"Ahh,alright.What is it?"

How would you like to stay...

"At a California beach house?Oh yes please,Bells!"

No!Stop interrupting,and let me say it!How would you like to spend the summer with me?

"That's...it?"

Fine,stay with My mom and Phil.There's probably a lot more fun with a couple of geisers,

"Fine,I'll go.Just get me outta here!"I whisper-shouted.

I got you a flight,and talked to your parents and Renee.Pack your bags back up,Your flight is tommorow,at eight in the morning,

"Fine,"I said,though a smile was plastered on my face.At least it was some form of breaking the law set by my parents.

Gotta go,kay?

"Bye!"

I called Leilani,and told her about what I was doing.It wasn't very exciting,but it was more exciting than staying with my aunt and uncle.

I repacked my bags,as I had stayed one night in the room that had been meant to be Bella's.

I decided it was time to sleep-I had to be early,so that I wouldn't catch any long lines.

When I woke up,I hurried,showered,brushed my teeth,did my hair and makeup,and got dressed in the outfit I'd layed out the previous night.(http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=33756808)

I hurried out to breakfast,drinking a glass of milk with a poptart. "C'mon,Kiddo,you don't want to miss your flight,"

I shook my head."Nope,"I said,rushing out to the car.

"Alright,then,lets go!"he said,as he shoved my four luggages into the car.


Now Boarding,flight 616SEA,

I watched as the gates opened."Well,Uncle Phil,It was a fun two days,"I said,smiling.

"Well,if you had so much fun,you can still change your mind and stay,"

I put my purse on my shoulder,and slung my hoodie over my other shoulder."Yeah...About that..."

He laughed,and hugged me."Bye,Kiddo."

"Bye,"I said,pulling away,waving,and rushing to board my flight.

I was bouncing on the plane the entire time,probably annoying the heck out of the business man sitting next to me,but it was totally worth the five and a half hours of my flight.

Once I got off the Plane-I could already feel the cold breeze-even inside the airport.I zipped my hoodie on,got my luggages onto a cart, and pushed through the people.

I saw Bella, and rushed towards her."Klutzy!"I yelled,trying to call her attention.

"Ellie!"She called,and her new husband,Edward,hurried towards me.

"Hey,Ellie,"Edward said,with a smile.

"Hey,"I said,with a small wave.He was good looking-but so pale it was kind of freaky.

Edward chuckled,as he took the cart from me,and we pushed towards the car.

The entire last summer flooded back into my mind-and I remembered what I'd seen,and vowed to never think about it again.Emmett-Edward's adoptive brother-that very morning,had emerged through the forest,with blood dripping down his chin.A while later,there was a sort of rotting smell,and I'd sneaked away from Leilani and My parents to check it out...it had been a Grizzly bear Carcus...which had led me to believe they were all vampires.I wasn't so scared,because to be honest,they didn't seem like the type to hurt people.

"That's right,"Edward said,looking at me,smiling.

"What?"I said,confused.

"You're right,"

"About?"

"Emmett.And me,"

"What's going on?"Bella asked.

"I don't know,your husband is scaring me,"I said,looking at him confused.

"I meant,you're right about us being vampires."

"How-How did you know that,creep!"I said,sitting back in my seat.

"I read minds."

"That's annoying,"I said,looking out the window.

He laughed."I get that alot,"

"I see why,"I said,shaking my head.

We pulled up to their house-and it was slightly familiar.

I sighed,stepping out of the car.Edward pulled my luggages out of the car."Careful with those,"I said,rushing up to the door.

I knocked,as Esme opened the door."Hey,sweetheart!It's great to see you again,"

"Hey,Esme,"

"Come in,sweetheart,"She said,moving from the door.

It was very warm,considering they lived in such a cold place.I looked around quickly-It was much different than it had been the last time I'd been here.The last time I'd been here,It had been set up sort of like a church...now,it was setup like a living room.

I looked around,and found Emmett by the stairs.Only this time, blood was not dripping down his chin.

"Hey,it's Bella's Latina cousin!"Emmett said,smiling,dimples and all.He walked over to me,and pulled me into a hug.

"Hey,"I said,returning his smile.I said hey to everyone,except three tan kids in the corner,who seemed like they kept to themselves.I stared at the boy-more like man-he looked like he was in his twenties,and he was focused on something outside-but then he quickly focused on me.His beautiful brown eyes were hardened-like he was always angry or something-but then they softened in a very confusing way.I looked down at my feet,and turned away from him,because I knew that my expression looked frightened.

Bella had just sat down on the couch,and I went to go sit next to her."So,where's the baby?"I asked,knowing she'd just given birth.

"He's upstairs,sleeping,"She said,smiling.

"Oh,okay."I said,and smiled.

We watched tv for an hour,and then I got up,and stretched on my toes,pulling my arms."I'm so tired,it was such a long flight."I said,stretching my muscles.

"Well,I guarrantee its going to be a better summer than spending it with my mom and Phil,"

So there's a little bit of Jacob in this story,but I'm pretty sure that most of the next chapter will be In jacob's pov :) anyways,enjoy!And comment on whether I should continue it :)
